Is a self service car wash safe?

It is true that nothing mechanical touches your car, but most self serves use highly alkaline chemicals in their systems. These chemicals are highly corrosive and unless you spend a lot of quarters the self serve washes don’t provide the quantity of water to properly wash off the residue. These washes typically provide only 3 to 4 gallons per minute. At Water Works we use a minimum of 70 gallons per car. You would have to put in over $7.00 worth of quarters to provide that much power at a self serve. The worst part is that this residue is allowed to dry on the car’s finish, thereby spotting the finish. Water Works’ solutions are pH balanced, thereby eliminating harmful spotting. Even soft water can spot a car, but the spotting can be removed easily. Chemical spotting is difficult to remove because it actually etches the paints surface. If you aren’t sure about the cleaners used in washing your car never let it dry in the elements (especially the sun). You should always dry your car wit
