Is a science GCSE counted as just one?

If you are doing additional science you get 2 GCSEs. One for the core science and one for the additional part. For the additional science you do a paper on physics, biology and chemistry and they add up together to make one mark. I never knew that and i focused on my biology exam thinking that i will get 3 separate GCSEs for biology, physics and chemistry and didn’t revise at all for physics and chemistry part and because of that my additional science grade is a D.
