Is a Rock Island 1911 45acp any good?
I bought an RIA 1911 when they first came out a few years ago. At $280 I didn’t think I could go wrong. I’m glad I bought mine when I did as they are excellent guns and made a fast reputation for themselves. Add to that complete interchangeability with the Colt 1911 and That is why the Price rose so dramatically. They are very solid and good quality. I carry mine 24/7 as my CCW piece and trust my life to it. It actually replaced my Browning High Power as my favorite self defense handgun which says a lot given Browning’s quality. I still own the browning but the RIA 1911 is my number one carry piece.
Rock Island Armory is a part of ARMSCOR, a Phillippine company that makes firearms for export, and has been around long enough to establish a pretty good reputation in shooter circles, enough so that you won’t get laughed at if you showed up with one at the local range. The RIA 1911 pistols are considered decent entry-level .45ACP pistols.
