Is a regular waterproof hiking boot good for hiking in snow?
Your feet have the hardest time staying warm in the winter because of the minimal blood volume and distance from your body core (heart), so you need as much insulation as you can afford to help retain what little heat you have inside your boot. While the waterproofing will keep the moisture from the outside from getting inside your boot, your feet will naturlaly sweat from the hiking in snow. Don’t forget to wear a good pair of wicking socks to keep the moisture away from the skin on your feet or else you will never be able to stay warm. I alos recommend a pair of liner socks inside your wicking polypropolene socks to help with wicking and keep the abrasion temperature down and avoid blisters.
