Is a purchase permit the same as the Omaha gun registration or concealed carry permit?
No, all three of these are different and required by different laws. The purchase permit is issued by the County Sheriffs office in the county where you reside. This permit allows you to purchase firearms without waiting periods and is good for three years. The Omaha Gun Registration is required by Omaha Municipal Codes. The Code requires that all concealable firearms must be registered with the Omaha Police Department. Concealable firearms are defined as “a firearm having a barrel less than 18 inches in length”. The concealed carry permit is issued and administered by the Nebraska State Patrol.
