Is a PS3 HD Premium Component Cable better than a HDMI cable?
HDMI is a pure digital connection, and carries with it the HDCP-compliant signal that you’ll need to watch Blu-ray movies at full HD resolutions, so that by itself makes HDMI quite handy. Component cables, while perfectly capable of carrying everything up to a 1080p signal if your TV supports it, are still an analog connection. They’ll still give you a fantastic picture, but HDMI is technically a cleaner signal. But please, PLEASE don’t fall victim to the absolute highway robbery that comes from buying so-called “premium” HDMI cables. Because they’re digital, a $6 cable from folks like www.monoprice.com is just as good as the $150+ ones you’ll find in a Best Buy.
