Is a Pomeranian chihuahua mix ok for children?

Your children should be old enough to handle a small dog with supervision. There is a big difference in toddlers and school aged children. She is old enough now even for a small dog to be crate trained and house broken. Paper training or pad training will make house training a harder longer problem. You should take your children over to meet the dog first. I rescued a larger pom cross from a shelter 18 months ago. She was so scared she was shaking and I had to carry her everywhere for a few days but she never made any attempt to snap or growl at my kids even in the shelter (or she’d still be there). I was very careful with my kids near Skye but I wanted her reaction to them running and being noisy around her before I adopted her. Take her to an obedience class and have the trainer tell you how to properly crate train her. It is a small investment that really pays off with a well behaved dog.
