Is a planetarium the same thing as an observatory?
They’re essentially the same thing. All observatories usually have an accompanying planetarium. The observatory building will house the exhibits, whereas the planetarium is used for shows and demonstrations so the public can see the exhibits "in action" so to speak. Usually planetarium shows require a ticket purchase whereas observatories are generally open to the public.
