Is a piercing in the nape of the neck dangerous?
If you go to a good piercer with success in surface piercings then there’s minimal risks in the actual procedure. Surface piercings are prone to rejection (Where the bar is pushed out of the body) but it is possible to heal them, they’re more likely to heal if it’s done with a surface bar (looks like a big staple) with discs on the end. If you keep the piercing clean and don’t play with it then it’s really unlikely that it’d get infected. But be careful taking your shirt on or taking it off or when drying your hair because you could easily catch it. And give it a good wash before getting out of the bath or shower, to make sure no shampoo is in the piercing. If it does start to reject, take it out as soon as possible to minimize scarring but I’ve heard that nape piercings are the most successful surface piercings.
