Is a persons blood pressure supposed to show a constant reading. Mine fluctuates between?
Blood pressure varies throughout the day and can fluctuate. Your blood pressure is too high in general. It sounds like the medication you are taking is not managing it effectively and may need to be reviewed. Normal BP is <120/80- this is always the aim, despite age. It would also be interesting to know how these readings were obtained. The 'White coat' effect is well documented when patients visit the GP- often causing BP to rise. For a more accurate analysis, BP should always be measured over a 24 hour period. Try reducing sodium in your diet, lose weight if you are overweight and exercise. I presume all secondary causes for hypertension have been ruled out, such as hormone and kidney issues?
