Is a PDF safe from pirating, and/or are there more secure ways of publishing eBooks?

A PDF, if not protected, can in fact be spread around quite easily and stolen. However, there are ways to protect both the content of your PDF and your PDF from illegal distribution. To protect the actual content of the PDF, PDF Creator will help you protect the functionality of your PDF (cut/copy/paste control, password protection, etc) by allowing you to lock the content, making it difficult for a hacker to steal the content (images and text) and create an unprotected copy. To prevent the illegal distribution (someone stealing the eBook by forwarding it and the password to a friend) you may want to use one of two programs that we have reviewed. These programs are Secure eBook and Click Locker. Essentially, these programs turn your PDF into an executable file (.EXE). Each time someone clicks on your product to view it, a security check is done to see if this is the authorized computer that has access to the PDF. Only then is the product displayed. You have the ability to revoke access
