Is a newly provisioned HAN device not functional until after the next eight-hour meter read?
The HAN device becomes functional at the time it is joined with the smart ESI/meter. A confirmation message which is generated by the ESI is stored in the meter’s event log and retrieved during normal meter data gathering. As a part of CenterPoint Energy’s periodic read collection, CNP will retrieve and interpret HAN event log information for indication that a device has been provisioned to our meter. If a successful provisioning is found or it is found that the meter has received the provisioning details and is waiting on the intended HAN device signal to complete the provisioning process, CenterPoint Energy will update the portal screen for device allocations accordingly.
