Is a Neem Tree Plantation in West Africa good business?
My company is in the process of acquiring a lot of land in West Africa for future plantation development. I have discovered, that large parts of it are densely covered with Neem Trees many of which are 10 plus years old. I have tried to learn as much as possible about this plant, as the potential really impresses me. What I am still trying to figure out is, whether it would be worth considering turning part of this land into an official Neem Plantation and how a sound business plant for such an operation including processing could look like. An internet research gave me mixed results on the profitability of such a venture. I am looking for as much as possible insight into the subject before we start clearing the land to plant commercial crops. I don’t want to make the mistake of destroying a potentially valuable resource.
