Is a low frequency drive unit (subwoofer) required?
Very low frequencies, as required for some applications, are often best handled by a conventional woofer or sub-woofer. Whilst it is quite feasible for a large SurfaceSound™ panel to reproduce these frequencies, the application will often dictate the size and therefore additional low frequency support may be required. As a rule of thumb frequencies below around 100-200 Hz are cut or rolled off for small-medium size applications. In any event, sound below about 200Hz does not carry much directional information and a low frequency drive unit placed out of the way can maximize the overall effectiveness of an Amina Loudspeaker system.
