Is a little bit of alcohol ok while on paroxetine?
They recommend that you don’t drink at all. I drink a few times when I took it. The effects of the alcohol were magnified. After a few drinks I would get really loopy and emotional. One time when I was on it my loser boyfriend at the time and I went out drinking. When we got home we got into a fight and he went on the computer and started looking at porn. I got so upset I impulsively took the whole bottle of Paxil. Then I had to go to the hospital. I never would have done this if I had only been drinking but the combination really made me wacko. So I don’t recommend drinking on it at all.
Contrary to what has been said previously Paroxetine Hydrochloride *is* an SSRI. As for taking alcohol with it. Depending on your reasons for taking it you might have discovered a new toy on nights out. I drank on the things sometimes quite heavily for six years or more without any problems. However I would suggest taking it slowly on the booze leads to a better night out. Drinking to deal with any kind of emotional pain is a bad idea. Bear in mind that SSRIs have a mild affect on liver function and combining this with too much alcohol on a regular basis… Well you can read between the lines surely? Everything in this world has a wise or unwise use.
