Is a liquid shredder soft surfboard suitable for a 13 year old beginner surfer as his first board?
My 7 year old grandson has a Liquid Shredder. His 9 year old big brother has a Surface soft top board. Soft tops are great for surf instructors, boards for hire and little kids. Other than that, they are useless. You just don’t pay any attention to what anyone tells you in these answers, so I don’t know why you keep on asking. Buying your own surfboard should be further down on your list of surfing priorities when you are starting out. The fact that you can “stand up” onm a surfboard doesn’t mean you know how to surf. You really need to start with lessons. Lessons can come from a professional instructor, or surfing family members or experienced surfing friends. You have to learn surf etiquette (so the experienced surfers in the line up don’t want to drown you), how to paddle and take off on a wave, and how to ride a wave. The last thing experienced surfers want is for inexperienced people to just grab a board, rush into the surf and get in our way. Lessons shorten the learning curve si
