Is A Life Expectancy of 100 Years Old Realistic Or Unrealistic?
Researchers at University of Illinois at Chicago recently stated that no matter how many lifestyle modifications and anti-aging methods are undertaken, the life expectancy of 100 years or beyond is unrealistic. S. Jay Olshansky, UIC School of Public Health professor and his colleagues write that if age and gender-specific trends in death rates observed from 1985 to 1995 continue, the life expectancy at birth for males and females combined would not reach 100 years until the 22nd century in France and Japan, and the 26th century in the United States. Olshansky found that using the latest data on death rates and life expectancy for men and women of all ages in Japan, France, and the United States from 1985 to 1995, although many people are living longer, the rise in life expectancy is slowing down.
