No occupational or trade license is required for a personal trainer. However, licensing is required by the Connecticut Department of Public Health for any individual performing athletic training services. Contact the agency at 860-509-7603. According to the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services, health and athletic club services are subject to sales tax. Refer to Special Notice (SN) 2003(7.1) Sales and Use Taxes on Health and Athletic Club Services or contact the agency at 1-800-382-9463 (Connecticut Only) or 860-297-5962.
