Yes. Your child should always be wearing a properly fitted and certified (ASTM, SNELL, or ANSI) bicycle helmet whenever the carrier is being used as a bicycle trailer (pulled behind a bicycle). Unforeseen accidents do occur and a bicycle helmet can help protect your child. We also recommend that parents wear bicycle helmets as well. When using the carrier as a hiker, X-C Skier, stroller or as a jogging stroller, it is not necessary to wear a bicycle helmet, however helmets are a good idea given that accidents can happen anytime, anywhere. Getting your child accustomed to wearing a helmet for all dynamic sports such as cycling, skiing, or skating is an excellent lesson that can be taught in their Chariot.
