Is a good education a right or privilege?

0

In today’s society access to a good education should be a right and be uninhibited by financial means, however, receiving one should be a privilege on the grounds that no matter what school you attend the quality of ones education is left solely up to that individual.

Education is a right, good education is a privilege. Consider the public school system. Most would say it is a right, that it teaches the basics, but for college or higher education one must go to an institution of higher learning. That costs money. Therefore it becomes a privilege because not everyone is able to do so. Only those who are deemed acceptable through scholarship, family wealth, sponsorship, etc. Otherwise every child would tutored throughout their school life to the point of college and forward to graduation. Basic education, reading, writing and arithmetic is a right. Beyond that it becomes privilege.
