Is a dictatorship better than a weak democracy ?
There’s no definitive answer, how good it is depends on your criteria. Dictatorship can be more efficient in getting things done, as was famously said of Mussolini “He made the trains run on time”, but it is also more prone to cronyism and corruption. The trouble with a dictatorship, or any other absolute monarchy, is that it is only as good as the person in charge. Democracy at least limits how much damage a bad ruler can do to the country.
Yes, often it is better. Example of good dictatorship: China. The big majority of Chinese don’t want a change. The system is not perfect but works. Democracy is a process and not an end. It works only if the frame of mind of the people and the historical situation is right. Example of week democracy: Philippines Nothing gets done.
When democracy goes wild, martial law is the solution to control the internal roits, indian constitution has a provision of MISA maintenence of internal securiety act, where military takes over the government, but there can be one more option though it is ruled out by rest of the world and that is dictatorship, who will not want Mahatma Gandhi to dictating the nation with his principals, or what would somebody react if Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was the dictator, or Bhagat Sing, ———-
