A cross-over cable is not needed due to the auto-uplink ability on the EZ serial switch, but will work. Top 22. Q: My EZ serial switch gets really hot and often drops my connection A: Put the EZ serial switch somewhere that has more air flow and see if that solves the problem. If this switch is on carpet or a flat surface, make sure the rubber feet are on the bottom, or prop it so that the switch is able to get airflow underneath. This will allow for better cooling.
