Is a comprehensive examination required as part of the DBA program?
Yes. The comprehensive examination is taken following completion of the 36 hours of required coursework. The examination consists of a qualifying paper on a topic of interest to the student. It should be related to the student’s dissertation interests. A student who submits a failing paper will have one additional opportunity to submit an acceptable paper. Work on the dissertation cannot commence until the comprehensive examination is successfully completed. A student who does not successfully complete the comprehensive examination cannot continue in the DBA program.
