Is a city simply a large community where people are lonesome together?
I grew up in a small town where the community is more cohesive. We knew almost everybody in our neighborhood and we called each other by our personal names and sometimes nicknames without taking offense. When I first moved to the city to work, I realized people were very impersonal and aloof. Even our neighbors would not allow you to get so close. Often when we met each other we would merely exchange pleasantries or waved to each other and said “hi and bye”. The people I know now are the brothers and sisters in the Lord and people I come to know through our involvement in community work. However volunteerism is seldom popular.
