Is a cavity stop required at the junction between cavity masonry separating walls and concrete floors to meet the requirements of the robust details?
Tests have been undertaken with and without cavity stops at these junctions and these have found no relative difference in performance. We can therefore confirm that cavity stops are not required at these junctions in order to comply with the robust detail, although particular attention should also be paid to Building Regulations Part B – Fire Safety to confirm that they can be omitted. Please note that the cavity stop indicated at the separating wall/floor junction with the external (flanking) wall is required in all cases.
