Is a buildings fire alarm system directly connected to the fire station?
Not always! Some buildings are monitored by private companies which notify the fire department when the alarm goes off. Other buildings are monitored directly by the local fire department. Other buildings have only a local alarm which is not monitored by either a private company or the fire department. When the alarm is sounded, it is important for people to call the fire department immediately from the building and not to assume that someone else has already done so or that the alarm is directly linked to the fire department.
