Hello, I am currently doing a national diploma in engineering. The national diploma is equivalent to three A-levels as you complete 18 units throughout the course, whereas the national certificate is equivalent to 2 A-levels as you complete 12 units, so that is the difference between the two. When applying for University, national certificates are not usually enough to gain entry into honours degree programs. However, you may be able to gain entry into a non-honours degree, which can lead to progression to the honours. Even at this though, you would need a complete distinction profile. The best option for you would be to e-mail the various universities you are interested in attending and consulting them, and if you cannot gain entry into university, then I would suggest doing a Higher National Diploma/Certificate at your college.
