Is a blood sample mostly composed of water, red blood cells or white blood cells?
By far the majority constituent of blood is water. Accordingly, if the sample is liquid blood the majority of the substance is water at between 45-50 percent. If, on the other hand, the sample you have in mind is one prepped for light microscopy then the majority component is red cells. This is because blood samples prepped for viewing by light microscope includes letting extra-cellular water evaporate prior to viewing.
