Is a already trained doberman pinscher from a breeder or adoption shelter good for first time dog owners?
I think you have the right idea. However, I think you would be best off to work with a breeder. Sometimes breeders will have an adult dog that they would like to place, which of course has already been trained. It would be best for you to find a breeder at least semi-locally that would be willing to help you learn to manage your dog. Dobermans can be strong-willed. Dobermans are also bred to be companions, so the dog will need plenty of your time and company as well. Plan on a Doberman to be a housedog, they don’t fare well when left outside and may resort to destructive behavior.
