Is a 22 caliber rifle o.k. for hunting coyotes and if so whats the best shot?

I really prefer a centerfire rifle over the weaker rimfire.The extra power, extended ranges and high fragmentation bullets kill much better than the rimfire, BUT, in a pinch a .22 will drop a yote but I’d keep ranges under 75yards and would use a hollowpoint bullet.As with most animals a heart/lung shot is the most ethical shot to take.
