For $2,000, presuming by “good condition” you mean it’s both mechanically and cosmetically sound and has been inspected by an experienced mechanic capable of providing a qualified opinion about the various components and systems (including any information contained within the vehicle’s on-board computer that may not otherwise be discernible), you really can’t go wrong. As a vehicle, the 2003 ION is very standard GM fare of the day. It’s certainly not an inherently terrible vehicle, but there’s not a whole lot to just love about it either. In the $2,000 price range, value and function become the primary factors; and any vehicle that runs reliably and isn’t likely to cost you significant repairs in the immediate future is a fair vehicle and reasonable deal.
