Is a 10 mega pixel digital camera any good?

Not all Mp are created equal. 10Mp is a good size for an APS sized sensor on a DSLR, its way too much for the small sensor of a compact (pixel density). Cramming lots of pixels into a small area is not good for so many reasons, the noise threshold goes way up, a pixels that is saturated will ‘overflow’ into surrounding pixels softening the image etc. etc.. 6Mp is perfect for a 10″ X 8″ print any more is ‘overkill’ unles you want to crop half the pixels away and still have enough for a good print. Above this size the larger Mp has the edge with the rather large caveat above.
