Is a 1.8 mondeo a stupid first car?
Wow. £4000-£6000 to insure a car that’s worth £1000? And not even for a particularly exotic car either. I never could understand how insurance companies in the UK get away with charging such asinine rates.Either the insurance companies are engaged in price fixing or the UK is full of horrible drivers. I live in the states and I pay about $1500 a year for full coverage on a Ford Mustang (4.6L petrol , supercharged), a F-150 4WD (5.4L petrol) and a TR6 (2.5L, petrol). That’s huge discrepancy vs. the prevailing rates in the UK. I cannot believe the citizens of Britain tolerate that. As for the car, from what I’ve read the Mondeo is pretty nice car, it’s not really exceptional in any way, but it doesn’t have any real glaring faults either. It’s similar to the Fusion sold in the U.S. though the smallest engine you can get in the U.S. version is the 2.5L, with a 3.0L and 3.5L V6’s being the optional engines. 2.5L models are considered adequate, but not particularly powerful. I imagine a 1.8L
