Is 802.11x sufficient for multi-users who demand access to high bandwidth rates similar to cable and DSL?

Yes, the technology is suitable to provide high bandwidth for power use and limited bandwidth for home use. Rarely is 11Mps required because the internet sites limit download speed otherwise a couple of users would monopolize the available bandwidth of the sites. A more realistic model is 128Kb/sec and 500Kb/sec for business. The bottleneck in any small community deployment will be the T1 line not the 802.11x standard. In one of our installations we plan to serve 15 businesses. We will deliver their bandwidth needs with one AP set to one of the three non-overlapping channels (there are eleven channels). Since our base design has up to three channels we could serve up to 750 users on one channel and still have two remaining channels.
