IS 7 THE LUCKY NUMBER FOR NEW DORP?
The Cougars seem to have a lot of good affiliation with the number seven. Seven is the number of freshman goalie Christopher Fiore. The Cougars have only won three games by less than seven goals, and their defense has yet to give up seven goals in a game. In fact, it was not until the Cougars 7th game, against Midwood, that they gave up seven goals in the season. Seven has another key point of this season. In the league, only three teams have lost when scoring seven or more goals this season. Cardozo (OT) and Christopher Coulmbus both fell victim to Tottenville 11-10 and 9-8 respectively, and Fredrick Douglass Academy fell to Midwood in the semi-final 9-8, despite outshooting the Hornets 30-23. Three out of four overtime games this season have all ended with 7-6 victories. New Dorp achieved this against Midwood with the Cougars lowest scoring game this season.
