An IP (Internet Protocol) address is a unique identifier that differentiates every computer or device connected to the Internet from others. The format of an IP address is a 32-bit numeric address written as four 3 digit numbers separated by periods. Each number can be in the range 0 – 255 (e.g. 192.168.0.1). Every computer or device that is directly connected to the Internet must have a different and unique IP address.
