If an international alien does not have a Social Security number (SSN) or Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN) assigned by the Social Security Administration or the Internal Revenue Service, please enter “Will Apply – contact ITO” in the Social Security Number/Employee ID field. After a review of the information submitted by the individual in the Glacier system, the HR International Tax office (if necessary) will assign an internal number so that payments can be processed for the individual. This internal number is not used for any other purpose. No other number should be listed on the form in lieu of a SSN or ITIN. The HR International Tax Office has a process in place to remove any internally assigned number once a valid SSN or ITIN is received. Specific questions regarding international recipients should be directed to the HR International Tax Office, nratax@vanderbilt.edu.
