Interfering mother in laws – why dont they just get on with their own lives ?
Simply because she is your MIL and that’s their job!! Not only do I have mine interfering in my life but all my husband’s siblings as well – I just try to ignore it and then have a good rant and rage with my own mother about it cos she’s ALWAYS on my side. On no account stop her having contact as this will just lead to friction between you and your husband and it really isnt worth it. I simply agree with anything they say and then do my own thing anyway as long as they think you are listening to their advice they seem to be pretty happy which will work as long as they never check up on me. Hope this is of some use In-Laws are just one of the trials we have to put up with in life.
My mother in-law is the same way. My husband as well as her other son, are perfect angels. Myself and my sister in law always get comments about how we’re not feeding our kids right or they don’t speak correctly, we don’t parent well etc. I tried talking with her, having my husband talk to her…it just doesn’t click in that brain of hers. Now, whenever she gives myself or my sister in-law a comment, we say, “Ok, thanks.” Drives her CRAZY because she really wants to see us get upset and say something back. Over the past couple of years I’ve been getting less and less comments from her.
