Excellent question, and a timely one too. A lot of people, including myself, would suggest that the D-L method is an oversimplification. I found this to be a good beginner’s guide to the D-L method on Cricinfo: http://www.cricinfo.com/link_to_database… As you can see, there were links at the bottom of the page to (what Cricinfo claims) are Frank Duckworth and Anthony Lewis’ email. I emailed Frank Duckworth the following questions that had popped into my mind: 1) (Refer to Example 3: Interruption to Team 1’s innings): The target for Team 2 is calculated by multiplying Team 1 lost resources (i.e. resources which Team 2 possess but Team 1 was not able to use), with 225 (the average first innings score in 50 overs a side games. Is the same process followed in Twenty20 matches? (The recently concluded IPL had 2 games decided by the D/L method) If so, what is the “average
