Integrating the new components into the existing unit: What kind of modifications would be necessary to the existing plant?
The turbine retrofit is designed to ensure that all interfacing systems (including gland- steam, drain, steam extraction and lubricating oil systems) will operate in the same manner as with the original turbine without any need for modifications to these systems. We can however implement improvements where there are existing problems. Existing instrumentation used for turbine control, turbine protection or simple monitoring purposes which interface with the turbine remain unchanged. Shaft vibration, eccentricity and differential expansion measurement surfaces would typically be replicated on new rotors.
