Insulin Pumps – Where Do I Buy Them?
YOU don’t just go out and buy one. You at least need a prescription. YOUR DOCTOR will need to obtain it for you, and help train you with it, and support you through your first few months of using it. It is possible (but not likely) that a hospital stay will be necessary. If your doctor has TRULY “allowed” you to have one, then he should ALSO be willing to help with the installation and training. if HE is not qualified to do so, then he should refer you to a specialist who is. Just because your doctor says that “this would be a good idea” does NOT mean that he as actually “allowed” you to do so. So my hesitancy comes from the fact that while you say your doctor as “allowed” you to have one, you have said nothing about asking the doctor to get it for you (or at least write the necessary prescription) , or support you as you learn to use it. This sounds like you are afraid or displeased with the doctor. If you think that an insulin pump will help you avoid doctor visits you are wrong — p
