Well, XP is going to detect all of those changes (especially if the MB has onboard NIC). Then XP might complain about it’s validation, so you’ll need to re-authorize it. Not a problem, but may require a phone call to the Windows’ mothership ;). However, if that is happening anyways, I would recommend a new install, just to avoid potential driver issues. Probably not necessary with XP, but over the years I’ve seen strange driver conflicts pop up, that a clean re-install fixed immediately. You don’t need to reformat – just a reinstall of the OS, that will leave things (games/software) on your HD, in case you need to recover something.
