Install PHP 5.2.0 or newer, on Fasthosts Dedicated Server running Redhat Linux Enterprise 5?

We have just purchased a dedicated server from fasthosts, running Linux Redhat Enterprise 5, however our script needs PHP 5.2.0 and the version installed is 5.1.6 – Can anyone tell us how to upgrade this, i have found various things online but none seem to work. A step by step would be great. Fasthosts customer support aparently say “its out of their range of support, as per usual. very unhelpful after spending over £1,000!” It used to be that you just had to type, # up2date php , and the server would download and install/upgrade the latest version of PHP. I haven’t done this for a while however so Red Hat may have improved its methods for updating software.
