Ingres Version: All OS: All Q: Will changing the ip address of my machine after ingres is installed have any effect on ingres installation?
No changing ip address of the machine after ingres installation will not have any effect on ingres installation. However changing the hostname will require a change to have ingres installation run without problems. Below are the steps to change the host name. 1. change all instances of (old-hostname) to (new-hostname) in config.dat. 2. change II_GCNxx_LCL_VNODE also to (new-hostname) with ingsetenv. 3. Rename the files with (old-hostname) extension in the following directory $II_SYSTEM/ingres/files/name for UNIX. And in %II_SYSTEM%\ingres\files\name for NT. 4. If still running OI 2.0/9712 (int.wnt) change II_HOSTNAME ingres variable for NT systems from (old-hostname) to (new-hostname).
