Inducing Labor??
Being pregnant can be a wonderful and joyous time. Yet, if you go past your due date, it can also become a time filled with horrible thoughts of “is this EVER going to happen?”. I have found myself in this position twice now, and both times I swore I would go crazy. My first pregnancy to become overdue was in 1998-99. My beautiful daughter decided to join us exactly two weeks late, after an induced labor via pitoxin. Labor itself was not I thought it would be. The drug they gave me to start labor (pitoxin) gave me horrible contractions with no time in between to “breathe” or prepare for the next contraction. I was trying so hard to have a drug free birth, but finally with my husbands support and guidance, I received an epidual. I decided after my first pregnancy and labor experience, I would try almost ANYTHING to stay away from received pitoxin again. I was due with my second daughter on September 23, 2000.
