In what ways did the Aztecs adapt to the dry environment of Mexico?

I believe it was the Aztecs who had aqueducts that led from a water supply on land to their main city in Lake Texococo. That is also a survival thing, but that’s the main way. Since they lived on a lake, it wasn’t that dry for them. In fact, with aqueducts, most Aztecs bathed at least every other day, and royalty about two to three times a day. I’m not positive, but I’m pretty sure that’s the Aztecs, if not it is the Mayans. Hope that helps.
