In what way is Hinduism ecumenical?
Hinduism is a polytheist structure, which is ecumenical only in the sense that it has incorporated deities into its pantheon as it deemed relevant to its own system. It does not tolerate other structures that conflict with its cosmology. That is why it is increasingly hostile to Christian missions. Buddhism originated in India as a reaction to the rigid class and caste system of Hinduism. Islam came there under conquerors and was established because of that fact. The partition of India and the hostility caused by religious conflict is progressing towards thermonuclear war. It cannot be considered “ecumenical”. My Teacher says the Old Testament dates to 600 BC, but that it has ideas derived from the Rig Veda which is older. Conclusion, the authors of the Bible made it up based on previous myths.
