In what cases should I NOT use OpenDML AVI files?

Depending on your capture card and software, you may need to uncheck the Vegas/Custom Settings checkbox: “Create an OpenDML (AVI version 2.0) compatible file”, in order to render older, “standard” AVI files. Unchecking this box will allow you to render these files, but you will have file size restrictions. A typical problem is the use of certain older capture card/software configurations that do not handle OpenDML AVI files. In this case, you will have to render to files below the size limit, and output each of these files to tape sequentially, using your capture card’s print-to-tape software (if available).
