A. Disabling Volumetric Lighting and High Detail actors within the game can help. To change these, just load up the game, enter the console by pressing the tilde (~) key (beside the non-keypadded “1”) or whatever button you may have assigned to it. Then, type in “preferences” (without the ” and “). Then, a menu pops up. Double-Click on “Rendering” and then “3DFX Glide Support” (you always should be using Glide on a V3, with a few game exceptions). Then, simply disabled the two previously-enumerated features. This can increase performance, but it is very map-dependant (the Volumetric Lighting, not the High Detail Actors). It can also decrease video quality. For example, by disabling H.D.A., that cool effect that shows up when you see a guy with the shield belt will disappear, and turn into something much uglier. Personnally, I disable only Volumetric Lighting. You can also change the Skin Texture quality in the other preferences menu (within the game), but on a lot of systems this doesn
