The banks in Tokyo will give you the best exchange rates. They do not have the best exchange rates at Narita Airport. I also heard that the post office will exchange money for you. The Banks will give you the best rates but it is no guarantee that they will exchange your denomination of money (thai baht). Narita Airport will more likely have your denomination of money but will not have the best exchange rates. During my recent travel in Japan (two weeks ago), we used a bank in Tokyo that gave us the best exchange rate when compared to the other services we used (Sorry I don’t remember the name of the bank). We also tried other banks in Japan but they did not exchange US dollar. I used my ATM card at an ATM but the exchange rate was not as good as the bank in the Tokyo. The ATM also charged a fee. We also use a random money exchange service company but their rates were the worse of all. I would suggest using a bank to get the most bang for you bucks. And Narita airport for convenience.
